Picture this with me for just a second....
Global emergency hits that causes mass panic and food supplies are unavailable. No Restaurants... No Stores... No Food... Emergency fishing will surely help you to survive at the onset of any situation where you have nothing to eat.
Perhaps the best source of food in the wild, short of bringing down a big game animal, is fishing. Depending on where you are, you can find crabs, clams, oysters, eels, small fish, and plenty of marine plant life.
In a crisis, all means of getting food will be highly valuable. Your food stores will only last so long. Supplementing with fresh-caught fish or seafood can help stretch your food source.
Side note: When you put fishing and hunting together with agriculture after a long-term crisis, you’ve essentially rebuilt the food demands of civilization.
If you've never fished before this 5 step process will help you get started!
1. Gear:
2. Casting:
3. Set the Drag:
4. The Hook:
Now that you know how to set a hook when you feel the fish, then next task is reeling it in!
5. Reeling in your dinner!
Now make a fire and bust out your skillet for a potent cocktail of nutrients and protein.
Frying the fresh catch in a large cast iron pan is a great option, if you came prepared with the pan and a little oil.
The biggest key is to make sure the oil is hot enough so the fish cooks evenly.
Obviously, you don't want to have to think about a global collapse and a shortage of food.
Unfortunately, these are the times we have to start thinking about it.
